Recently, we installed an old iron gate at the entrance to God’s Cathedral Maryland, one of the most peaceful places at Timber Valley Farm Barn Rental. While the gate itself is beautiful, it’s the remarkable story behind it that makes it truly special.
For more than 15 years, the gate sat quietly in storage after a friend asked us to keep it for safekeeping. Then, one day, I felt it belonged at the entrance to God’s Cathedral. What followed was a series of unexpected events that brought together a forgotten gate, a piece of pipe found along the railroad tracks, a Saturday spent working with our grandnephew, Gage, and a project that came together more perfectly than I could have imagined.

At first glance, it’s simply an old iron gate standing quietly between towering moss-covered boulders.
But every time I walk through it, I’m reminded that it almost never found its way to God’s Cathedral.
For more than 15 years, the gate sat in storage after a friend asked us to keep it for safekeeping. Over time, I had almost forgotten it was there.
Then, one day, I felt it belonged at the entrance to God’s Cathedral. Finding the gate again, discovering the perfect way to mount it, and watching every piece of the project come together made this one of the most meaningful improvements we’ve made at Timber Valley Farm Barn Rental.
Sometimes the most memorable projects aren’t the biggest ones. They’re the ones that leave a lasting impression long after the work is finished.
